Dreams come true, i promise! One of mine came true big time. I had a cake goal, to make a cake inspired on a fashion piece (dress, sweater or whatever) from a famous fashion designer. But how do you do that? I wanted the permission from the designer him or herself, so that i did not had feeling of stealing photo's and stuff).
We have an saying in Dutch : "brutale mensen hebben de halve wereld" freely translated that means something like : people who dare to ask and do, own half the world" so i thought i am going to send a kind email to the fashion designer of my choice: UK Fashion Designer Paul Smith, yes THE Paul Smith.
I send an email to the costumer service via the website. Within two days i got the kindest answer back, that i absolutely was aloud to use a photo, and they would like me to send a photo of the cake it was done. As you can imagine i was so happy, and started to look for a photo that spook to me. I found the best dress ever. A very outspoken, colorful and a very Paul Smith dress. I saw how this dress was going to make a cake, in my head of course. So i made cake, showed it to my sister, who is always my jury. she approved (lol) and i send the photo to the costumer service, and what happened next...just wow. I got an email back (with in 24 hours after sending the photo) that they send the photo to Paul private email. But things get better, hold on. The next day got an email from the costumer service that Paul loved the cake, and he made a sketch of the cake and signed it. Wait...hold on for second, what? I was looking at the email, like i saw water burn. But things get even better...i got on other email that Paul wanted to send the hand drawn sketch to my house adress, at the side of the water (UK- The Netherlands). That made my cake life complete! Wow! Now the cake (that is an dummy cake) and the sketch are in a cabinet for everyone to see. Now every time i feel down, i look at what i have accomplished and remmeber that all my cake dreams WILL come true! What is said before, dreams come true, i promise!
