I get a lot of questions about cake decorating and how i started. I covered a lot in my posts but i do not mind anserwering them agian.
How did you start: I can't really remember how i started. I believe i saw decorated cake on the internet, i was bored an thought very arrogantly : i can do that too. Well it does not work like that, let me tell you :)
Who are your inspirations or heroes: I don't really have heroes, but a lot of inspirations. When i grow up (lol) i want be like Silvia Weinstock. But i can get my inspriration from basicly everything, like good music, the work from other cake artists, something that happened to me, something i see on tv etc.
What is better Fondant, marzipan or Buttercream: i can't really answer that, that is personal for every cake artist.
What is your favorite cake: uhmm i love almost everything, as long it is made with a lot with love. But i have to answer that: everything Silvia Weinstock makes ;)
What do you do with negative critism: okay read my answer carefully....nothing! i don't care about the negative people! Positive and up building people, i love you! Every artist can use an "other eye" on their work. But as soon as people going to start saying things (and i heard it all) like: who do you think you are, you will never reach your goal, you really think people are going like your work....let me say this...keep hating, i will keep baking!
What are your dreams or goals: Oh my! i have so much i want accomplish as an cake artist, to much to write down. But let me tell you about a dream that came true. I always wanted to make a cake inspired on a piece of clothing from a clothing designer. I eye was drawn to a colorful, stunning dress from Paul Smith (yes THE Paul Smith). I contacted his costumer service to ask if i could use a photo. They were the best, and the made my dream come true. I could use to photo, as long i promised to send a photo of the cake and choosen photo to the contact person. I made the cake, send the photo and nearly had an heart attack. They send the photo to Paul him self, who made sketch of my cake and send it to me...
What i want to say is, your dream CAN come true, just believe in it!
