"Decorating a cake in a heatwave, equals trying to stay dry in a ocean- Me"
I am not complaining about the nice an sunny weather, not at all...well maybe when i comes down to the caking thing. Yeah i am still Dutch, so i complain about the weather (and everything else).
Okay for all the non caking people i will explain the problem...imagine this: Your cake is crumbcoated with BUTTERcream, then decorated with a SUGAR paste (fondant or marzipan) and that combinated with with heat. This whole thing goes melting like crazy. So you have two options, either you go on and pray that the heat does not effect your cake (and when it is an important cake, all the cake laws makes sure that heat effects your cake in the worst way) or you put the cake in a fridge and work from there, but that can be a disaster aswell. When you are opening and closing the door all the time that makes your cake sweaty. So of course i made a three tiere cake, covered with marzipan and i am not a marzipan person, you can imagine the fun i had...i can tell you this equals a cranky cake artist!
